The clubbers enjoying one of Pam's People's three routines during the night. A previously unpublished image.
Hundreds of people queued for more than six hours on Thursday, 20th June 1974, for the public opening of "Angels," Burnley's newest night spot. The star attractions at the first night were Pam's People, the glamourous all girl dancing group of television's "Top of the Pops" fame. They performed three dance routines during the evening. The second spot of the cabaret was performed by the Sweet Sensations, typical of the "middle-of-the-road" groups the club hopes to book weekly. This is the type of programme the club will have every night, with two cabaret spots. They will not be visual cabaret acts and will be designed more so that people can take part and dance. When the cabaret finished the DJ took over, providing non-stop entertainment until early in the morning.
