Norbert Phillip, born 12 June, 1948, from Dominica in the Windward Islands was professional for Colne in the Lancashire League for one season in 1975. He played a few tests for the West Indies in 1977/8 and 1978/9 and from 1978-85 played for Essex. He was one of the players who joined the infamous Kerry Packer cricket tour.

In a Colne team which finished third from bottom, he averaged nearly 38 league runs with a highest score of 83, and took 85 wickets at an average of just above 14, with a best performance of 7 for 24.

A good performance locally was on 14th June 1975, against a Lowerhouse team which finished bottom that season, when he celebrated his 27th birthday by taking 5 for 65 and scoring 21 not out in an 8 wicket win.
