Legion's Dance Success

Making the RBL disco dance a glamorous occasion. Burnley s Miss RBL, Sharon Ashworth, and Kathryn Hudson, the Legion's area beauty. "It was an absolute knock-out, " that was the reaction of the organisers of Friday evening's disco dance and buffet of the Burnley branch of the Royal British Legion. The disco dance held to raise general funds for the branch, attracted an attendance approaching 400, which exceeded expectations by a wide margin. Legion officials are grateful to the committee and members of the Joseph Lucas Sports and Social Club, Parker Lane for allowing their club premises to be used for the event. It certainly made the function an outstanding success many members of the Lucas club supported the event, said a Legion spokesman. The guests were welcomed by Legion branch vice-chairman Mr. Alf Pickup. Bouquets were presented to Burnleys Miss British Legion, 19 year-old Sharon Ashworth, and to the East Lancashire Miss British Legion, Miss Kathryn Hudson (26)
