Surprise For Trophy Donor

After receiving the record player, Mr. Lewis is thanked for his work by Mr. G. W. Godden, the electrical factory manager. In the centre is the winning captain, Jack Derbyshire.
After the Lucas inter-departmental cricket knock-out final, the Len Lewis Cup, Mr. Lewis presented the trophy to the winning captain.
He was then given a very pleasant surprise when he was called back to the platform to receive a record player as a token of gratitude for the work he has done in the past 18 years as the cricket section chairman. Mr. Lewis is retiring this weekend after 43 years with the company. He was employed in Burnley as chief buyer.
The cup was won by Lucas Engineering School, and the captain, Jack Derbyshire, received the trophy. In the final LES beat Hapton by five wickets. The competition was started in 1955 and this year 20 teams entered.
