Thousands of schoolchildren throughout the country have been getting the chance to see a Department of Energy sponsored play and this week it was the turn of Burnley schools. Children from Ivy Bank and the new sixth-form centre attended performances of "The Energy Trap" by the Daylight Theatre group. Three actors make up Daylight Theatre and they are touring 108 schools.
The play is sponsored by the Department of Energy as part of its energy conservation programme and is designed to interest schoolchildren and their teachers in the efficient use of energy resources. Daylight Theatre staged the play at the former Girls' High School and children from Ivy Bank saw it there after a planned performance at their own school was rearranged. Mr Burfield said "We are very pleased with the response that the play is getting and we were pleased with the warmth of the welcome we received in this part of the country." After the performance, the group held a question and answer session. Mr Burfield said: "We have been getting some very good questions on both energy and theatre and that's what the project is designed for."
