Euro Week got off to a great start on Saturday, 23rd September 1972 as Burnley began a week featuring many continental-styled events. Burnley Chamber of Trade, in co-operation with British European Airways organised Euro Week to give the town a preview of what life will be like once Britain joins the Common Market. All tastes and ages have been catered for. For the active there are gala dances at the Keirby Hotel, and for those who prefer something a little more relaxing, there is a bistro all week in the Market Square.

Traffic in the town centre was held up for several minutes on Saturday, as a cavalcade of about 70 cars took part in a grand display. Hundreds of shoppers lined the route as the procession, headed by Nelson Morris Dancers wound its way through the streets. Eleven North-East Lancashire motor dealers combined to bring their new models to the public eye, but only vehicles manufactured in Europe were displayed. After the cavalcade, many of the cars were put on show on the forecourt of the Keirby Hotel, where the public had a rare opportunity to inspect and compare the new models.

The article gives information about other events planned for the coming week at the Keirby Hotel: A sporting club dinner (wrestling tournament); Mora Shearer at Burnley Luncheon Club; Danish cookery feature; Economy Ball; and an all week shop window competition.
