Sinbad (Rita Serrell) with members of the chorus in Briercliffe pantomime.
Briercliffe St James's got off to a good start on Saturday, 27th January 1973, with a full house for the dramatic society's annual pantomime "Sinbad the Sailor." Children are a feature of the pantomime, which was well received by an appreciative audience.
Sinbad is played by Rita Serrell, and the principal girl is Joan Griffiths. Frank Taylor is the old man of the sea, and the comedy is in the hands of Roger Kelley, Howard Rogers and Andrew Wood. Veteran player and producer Jack Berry plays the dame, and in addition to the chorus, the boys are featured as pirates. Further performances will be given tonight (Tuesday 30th January), and on January 31st and February the 2nd and 3rd. There has been a big demand for tickets, and the success of the production seems assured.
