Church Members Take Pensioners On Trip

The family church festival on Sunday by Sion Baptist Church replaces the Whit walks or processions of witness. This year all church members took part in a scheme which enabled about 53 pensioners to go for a country trip. The pensioners were not necessarily members of the church, but the church members gave the use of their cars and services as drivers. Leaving the church soon after lunch, the trippers were taken to Skipton, returning via Rimington and Downham, over Pendle and back through Sabden and Barley. Tea was made and served in the church hall by members of the youth group.
All church members, down to the last primary Sunday school child, did something to aid the project headed by the Rev. K. H. Hobbs (minister of Sion Baptist Church).
