The "Twins," Sebastion (Lindsay Cunliffe) and Viola (Rita Hartley) against the historical background of Gawthorpe Hall.
From an article by Norman Powell:
It has taken 25 years for Highcliffe Players to make up their mind about staging a Shakespearean production, for "Twelfth Night," which opens on Saturday 22nd January 1972 at the Municipal College Theatre, is the first Shakespearean play to be presented by this talented society.
A specially invited audience was treated to a preview of the production on Saturday, 15th January when the players presented excerpts from "Twelfth Night" at Gawthorpe Hall, in conjunction with the Nelson and Colne College of Further Education. The hall provided a perfect background for the lecture on Shakespeare by producer Ronald Hothersall, with the Highcliffe Players providing the "illustration" from "Twelfth Night."
