Richard's Got A Plan For a Brighter Hapton

Quality control worker Richard Clayton is a firm believer in local government participation, so much so that he has issued a blueprint for a brighter, more beautiful Hapton.

From a story by Sheila McLennan:
Mr Clayton believes that a task force of local men could help solve many of the problems in the village. And now he has submitted his four-point plan to Hapton Parish council in anticipation of action and support for his blueprint. He calls for action on: rebuilding dry stone walls; hedge planting to hide wire fencing; tidying up demolition sites; and tree planting to improve the general environment.

Mr Clayton's blueprint received an enthusiastic response from local councillors, who said: "We are with him all the way. This is exactly what we want to do for the village. We have said this all along."
