Mrs Mott (centre) presents Mrs Emmott with the stereo unit which she bought for the hostel.
Residents, staff and friends at Calder Hostel, West Street, Padiham, gave their new stereo record player an airing at a social evening on Wednesday, 29th January 1975. The record player was presented by Mrs M. Mott of Wordsworth Street, Hapton, who raised the money to buy the equipment by making soft toys. Residential manager, Mrs. T. Emmott received the record player on behalf of the hostel, and thanked Mrs Mott for her gift.
Matron Mrs J. Titley said: "Mrs Mott raises a lot of money for the hostel, she has taken residents on trips and has just started to work here part time. The record player is marvellous. We've only ever had one, but this can be used for social occasions as well. We're very pleased with it."
