Last minute preparations and soon the processionists were on their way round the district.
About 130 people joined in the annual walking day of the Stoneyholme Methodist Church on Sunday 6th August. The day was a special event this year, as it was the last before the church closes down. On Sunday morning at a service in the chapel, the crowing of the two Sunday school queens and the two rose queens took place. A local preacher, Mr. Keith Folley, preached at the service. In the afternoon, after the walk round the district, another service was held and was presided over by the Rev. E. Bryan Packett. The four queens were each presented with a copy of the New English Bible.
