A small amount of detailed finishing work, involving the "family" type one-bedroom accommodation at the Royal British Legion's housing development at Brunshaw, known as Barnes Court, has held up the total handing over of the project to the Legion. However, at an informal ceremony held on the estate last Thursday afternoon, 9th October 1975, the architects were able to hand over the keys of the "sheltered" accommodation - single-bedroomed flats for ex-Service pensioners or their immediate relatives (14 bedsitters and 28 two person flats).
Tenants are already moving in. The remainder of the development will be ready for occupation by Friday of this week. An "official" and formal opening ceremony will be held on the estate next spring.
