Shuttles of all shapes and sizes are on display at the Burnley branch of the Marsden Building Society this month. The display, on loan from R. Halstead and Sons (Nelson and Rochdale), shuttle manufacturers, should attract the eye of young and old alike.

Manager of the Marsden, Mr D. Capstick, said: "I decided to put the shuttles on display for the old folk who will be able to reminisce about the old days and for children who have probably never seen a shuttle. School parties are welcome to come and see the exhibition." The shuttles, which can be used for weaving anything from cotton and silk to matting and carpets, are exported by Halstead's all over the world.
