“A Bold revelation in housing” is what the planners call the unique housing development schemes for the 10-acre site recently cleared on Trafalgar Street. This artist’s impression of part of the plan for the area show the exciting modern housing concept used in the scheme, which will grow next year form the dust of recently-demolished terraced houses.
The scheme is the costliest housing development ever undertaken in Burnley and the go-ahead for the erection of the new houses and flats was given at Burnley Housing Committee’s meeting this week, when it was revealed that a tender had been negotiated. Included in the £880,000 plans are 77 one-bedroom flats; 40 two-bedroom flats; 77 three-bedroom maisonettes; four shops, and 72 garages. The scheme now needs the sanction of the full council.
