The ladies round a bend with only a few yards left to row into Burnley.

Six Burnley mums stuck in their oars to help Burnley Sea Cadets row towards their £100 goal. The lads and their mums rowed from Gargrave to Burnley during the holiday weekend in the Corps's fourth annual sponsored row to raise funds for its activities.

The final stage of the 25-mile row was completed by the mums' crew which arrived at the Finsley Gate marina just in time for tea on Sunday afternoon, 31st May 1976. Mrs Enid Cole, whose 15-year-old son Andrew and husband Lt. Ted Cole took part in the row, said: "The ladies caused quite a stir dressed up in their Sea Cadet outfits. We rowed the last mile of the route. It was pretty hard going."
