Ted Humphreys breaking off in his Golden Cue semi-final with Neville Gee. Onlookers include competition secretary Norman Hadfield (standing behind Humphreys), referee Colin Grimshaw, marker Bill Tattersall and some of the audience at the 110 club. Ted won the first large tables semi-final of the Burnley Express-Buchanan Blend Whisky Golden Cue competition with a show of positive play and fearless potting to win 3-0 over Neville Gee. Humphreys, (Crawshawbooth), two time quarter finalist and last year’s beaten semi-finalist, now faces the winner of the next semi-final between Terry Bentley and Clifford Holden. Gee (Rosegrove Unity) in his first semi-final had a great chance to get back into the match after losing the first two frames but errors at 42-37 meant that Humphreys raced into a71-42 lead and Gee conceded. Referee was Colin Grimshaw, marker Bill Tattersall. Charity Collection £4.09
