He was proposing the toast to the Burnley Club which was responded to by the president rotarian Reubin Jackson who said that to give service and give it with enthusiasm would help end disruptions which our modern economy seems to generate. Responding to the toast Rotary International Chairman District 119, Rotarian G. Kilpatrick recalling that there were 600,000 rotarians throughout the world so that with their friends in social and business spheres and their friends there must be no limit at all to the Rotary influence.
Other speakers were rotarian Tom Alston, Peter E. Riley, The mayor of Burnley (Alderman J. E. Parkinson) and Mr. Harry Schofield.
