Christmas morning at Marsden Hospital where Mrs G Copple comforts her four year old daughter, Elizabeth.
An old lady put it “Isn’t it wonderful? You couldn’t do better at the Ritz.” That, in short, was Christmas Day at Burnley Hospitals. But it is not the whole story, there must be added the cheerful faces of people who may be a little sad, but were certainly not gloomy. All around were nurses who had decorated their own wards to transform the atmosphere into one of homeliness. It was into this atmosphere that the Mayor, Alderman J E Parkinson went, along with other civic leaders, on Christmas morning.
