With heavy winter rain pounding Burnley over the weekend, it was up to the local horticultural society members to bring us a real taste of spring. And they did it with colourful splendour at their annual spring show. The unpredictable weather meant difficult decisions for all our keen amateur gardeners. When to pick their flowers must have been awkward, but everybody seemed to have chosen just the right timing.
Sion Baptist Church was a garden paradise that denied the pouring rain and gave credit to the gardeners’ sheer hard work and justification to everyone who turned out to see all the exhibits. (Part of a longer original report by Garry Brannigan)
