Work on Rosegrove Bridge is Running to schedule

Work on the reconstruction of the 70-year-old Rosegrove Railway Bridge is running to schedule and will probably be completed by the end of the year. Only slight delays have occurred so far, and these have been caused by the weather. But work is being held up a little now as the contractors are having to wait for the Gas Board to lay a new gas main across the bridge. The west side of the bridge should be finished by next month and re-opened to traffic. The east side will then be closed to traffic while work takes place there. The same one-way traffic arrangements will remain in force. Usually there are about 16 men working on the bridge most of whom travel over to Burnley daily from Bolton. But at the moment with it being the holidays, only about seven men are at work.
