A former missionary in Japan performed the opening ceremony of the Queensgate Pentecostal Church, Burnley. Mr. Alan Benson, Pastor in Leyland and chairman of the North Lancashire District Council of Assemblies of God, declared the church open by symbolically opening the door of the building, which used to be Queensgate Methodist Church.
An open air service in the grounds of the church preceded the inaugural meeting. the congregation of over 200 sang hymns and heard readings from the Bible. Other speakers at the meeting were Mr. R. Jeffs, from the Lincoln Assembly, who is secretary of the European Evangelistic Mission, Mr. Crompton from Cape Town, and Mr. E. Taylor, Pastor of Queensgate Church.

Update: In 2005 the church moved to the former Gannow Baths on Gannow Lane and became known as the Life Church and in 2014 a new purpose built church was opened on Sycamore Avenue, Burnley.
