Simon Pittard, puts the finalists through their paces.
The Eight finalists who will be judged next Friday at the 1970 Queen of Industry Contest were put through their paces at a rehearsal on Friday morning in the Casino Ballroom. Promotions manager Simon Pittard explained the procedure of the big night, and each of the eight girls practised the routine walk.
This year they have not had a professional model to help them, for it is, after all, an amateur contest in which natural grace of movement will score over the classic style of the model school. As the grand finale approaches, the girls are becoming a little nervous at the prospects of being spot-lighted before the judges, an avenue of VIPs and the public.
Just over the horizon lies a tantalising £100 in cash and a fantastic holiday for two in Tangier for one lucky girl, and attractive cash prizes for the two runners-up.
