It was Barney Rushton's night at the Lowerhouse Mills club last Thursday when the Padiham and District Darts League competition finals and presentations took place. Not only did he win the individual championship by beating Eric Taylor in the final, but he and his partner, George Hudson, won the doubles title. They defeated Jack North and Dennis Lawton 2-1 in a tense final.
The Society for the Blind Cup went to the Royal British Legion (D. Lawson, A Rostron, M. Morley J. North, J. Helm, J. Mitchell D. Galloway) with a 4-2 success over the Railway (Rosegrove) represented by B. Fallows, T. Eatough, D. Riley, A. Lyons, J. Westwell, E. Grimshaw, H. Salkeld. The Society for the Blind knock-out realised £15 and a cheque was presented to the society officials, Mrs Parker and Mrs Huddam, by Mr Norman Hadfield on behalf of the league
