Gently Does It As New Bridge Is Positioned (2 of 2)

The new bridge being lowered into place.
It took Lancashire County Council workmen just one morning this week to replace Bendwood Bridge over the River Calder, which was demolished in January. It is now open to the public. The 13-year-old replacement bridge, weighing seven and a half tons, which originally stood over a railway line in Preston, was lowered into place by a 130-ton crane on Tuesday morning.
