Special Presentation Is Highlight Of Bowlers' Dinner

The president, Mr. Sherwin, recovering from his surprise, receives his mementos, others in the group being Mr. Edwin Baker, Mr. M. Harrison, Mr. Don Smith, Mr. C. Dean, Mr. Alan Smith, Mr. H. Jackson (with championship trophy) and Mr. John Sagar (vice-captain).

President of Scott Park Bowling Club and a member for 21 years, Mr. Harold Sherwin takes a close interest in all phases of the club's activities. Hence the officials were to be congratulated on Friday's annual dinner at the Duke of York Hotel, that the several weeks old secret of a special presentation had not "leaked". This was the highlight of the culmination of a successful bowling season and for Mr. Sherwin the recognition of a long period of service. Mr. Alan Smith, the treasurer, said that the president had accomplished so much on behalf of the club that it was felt that the time had come to show their thanks and appreciation.

The presentation of an inscribed clock and a bowling trophy was made by one of the guests, Mr. Don Smith of the Burnley Express, who said that Scott Park delegates were well known for their utter loyalty to their club. Their officials were responsible and respected and all the best qualities must be possessed by Mr. Sherwin who was regarded so highly by fellow members. The Tuesday League championship cup was handed to the Scott Park captain, Mr. Harold Jackson, by the league chairman, Mr. Edwin Baker, who presented the individual prizes and recalled that the title holders had won all their matches. Mr. Charles Dean, the club chairman, presided.
