Some members of the general committee listen as Alderman John Helm stresses a rule - Charlie Horner, Norman Hadfield (Burnley-Padiham area secretary), Frank Bateman (Nelson area secretary), Alan Watson and Dennis Hartley (assistant secretary of the Nelson snooker League).
Golden Cue time is here again and members of the joint committee covering Burnley, Padiham, Brierfield, Crawshawbooth, Nelson, Colne and Barnoldswick met on Tuesday at the Greyhound Hotel, Brierfield, to discuss details. Alderman John Helm presided and welcomed the delegates who decided that the entrance fee would remain at 15p and the closing date fixed at September 27th in all areas. Collections for the mayors' and chairmen's fund in the area would be taken from the quarter-finals and a donation made for the club and Institute Union Convalescent Homes. Rules remain the same and all rounds up to and including the section quarter-finals will be best of three frames; section semi-finals and finals best of five. And the area final decided on aggregate scores.
Prize money would be a total of £72 as last year with the winner of the Grand Final receiving £22 and the loser £14.
