THE Colne Park High School Brass Band joined forces with the cream of Lancashire's young brass band musicians for a highly successful concert on Saturday.
The Park musicians and the Lancashire County School's Brass Band gave a concert at the Colne Municipal Hall that attracted a 300 strong audience. and was organised by Park headmaster. Mr D. T. King.
The 29 youngsters from Colne, mostly girls, were conducted by Mr Allen Emmott, and performed a varied programme during their half of the show, which ranged from Glenn Miller’s “In the Mood” to a more modern vocal number “Annie's Song” sung by euphonium player Karl Williamson. Afterwards the Lancashire School's band played marches, rags and even a rumba before joining with the Park school band to play “The Rhonda Rhapsody”, which proved extremely popular with the audience. Mr Emmott said: “We found that the concert went very well - the youngsters enjoyed it and so did the audience. We have a great bunch of kids."
