Last week we carried a story of two Nelson people, Mr John Bracewell and his wife Jean, of Maurice Street, who sighted what they described as an unusual phenomenon on Tuesday, June 21st - "‘sort of cigar shaped, silver and glowing like nothing I have ever seen before” said Mr Bracewell.
And now we have reports from four Nelson school girls and a Barnoldswick housewife of similar “sightings” on the same day.
The girls, all second-year pupils at Walton High School, are Gail Webster (12) of Every Street, Sandra Baldwin (13), of Highfield Crescent, Caroline Harris (13), of Edward Street, and Rosemary Jackson (13) of East Street. They were together as they stared incredulously at an inexplicable object for a full minute before it soared upwards and disappeared into the clouds.
The housewife is Mrs Anne Pickles, of 10 Lower West Avenue, Barnoldswick, who after reading Mr Bracewell’s story last week writes to say: “I, too, saw it. I came home at 7-45 a.m. from the night shift at Rolls-Royce.
