The new Burnley-based TheatreMobile scored a great hit at Burnley High School on Tuesday afternoon, 2nd February 1971, with a performance to 80 sixth-formers of "The Knack," by Ann Jellicoe. It was the company's first performance since members arrived in Burnley in January, and before the performance the actors had lunch with the sixth form.
Mrs A. Clayton, head of the English department at the school, said: Quite a few girls who have leanings towards drama showed great interest in the company and talked with them for some time. We do a lot of drama in school, and are interested in anything to do with the theatre. Naturally we are anxious to support any group which may possibly establish a permanent repertory theatre in the area, which at the moment is sadly lacking."
The play, which had its opening public night at Burnley Municipal College last night (Thursday 4th February), was directed by Shell Abulafia.
