Mr Clark handing a pint to Mr Ted McGuire, a "regular" at the pub for the past 10 years.
"Last orders please! - the familiar call was shouted for the last time at the Plane Tree Inn, Westgate, Burnley on Wednesday night, the 9th February 1972. The Plane Tree is one of three pubs which Bass Charrington is closing in Burnley as part of their scheme for rationalisation of hotels in the district. The Clifton in Padiham Road was the first to close and the Cricketers' in Anne Street will be the third. There was only a small gathering at the Plane Tree as landlord Mr Donald Clark served the last pints to mark the end of an era.
