When Burnley Football Club’s Under 23 International Ralph Coates was married yesterday at St John’s Ivy street, three of his team mates were present as best man and groomsmen. His bride was occupational therapist Miss Sandra Veronica Banks, the daughter of Mr and Mrs J R Banks of 84 Leamington Avenue, Burnley. Mr Coates, of 118 Todmorden Road, is the son of Mr and Mrs R Coates of Hetton-Le-Hole, Co Durham. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a princess-style gown of white organza lace with full puff sleeves and deep hemline of frilled lace. Her long train also had a deep hemline of frilled lace and her headdress was of pearl and diamante with a short bouffant veil. Carrying a bouquet of red roses and white bridal flowers with a white ivory-backed missal. She was attended by her chief bridesmaid, Miss Christine banks (her sister), Miss Freda grant (her cousin) and Miss carol Hilton (her friend). They all wore dresses of French pink velvet with a coat effect trimmed with Swiss applique. They wore twin rose headdresses and carried pink roses and white bridal flowers.
Best Man was Mr Len Kinsella and the groomsmen were Messrs Stan Ternent and John Murray. The ceremony was conducted by Father R Seale and the reception was held at the Higher Trapp Hotel, Simonstone. The couple will live at Herschel Avenue, Burnley.
