Match Reports 1960's
Burnley began the decade by becoming champions of England, achieved in the 1959/60 season. As a consequence, they represented England in the European Cup Competition and reached the quarter final, being narrowly defeated over two legs by SV Hamburg. In 1962 they appeared in the FA Cup final at Wembley - see our Article https://www.bcthic.org/Articles/The_1962_FA_Cup_Final for more information. They remained in the First Division throughout the 1960's under manager Harry Potts and finished third in 1965 - 66 to qualify for the 1966-67 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. Prominent players include Jimmy McIroy, Ray Pointer, Jimmy Adamson and Brian Miller.
Our negative collection starts in November 1966 and includes reports of Fairs-Cup matches against Napoli and Eintracht and Youth Team cup matches, including the Cup Victory in 1968. To-date, 1966, 67 and 68 images have been digitised but none as yet from 1969.
