Barnoldswick Citizen's Carol Service

PEOPLE flocked into Holy Trinity Parish Church on Saturday evening for one of Barnoldswick's most important interdenominational occasions of the year.
The annual citizen's carol service was organised once again by the Barnoldswick Corps of the Salvation Army and attracted a good crowd including members and clergy from most of the town's churches. The guests of honour included local MP Mr John Watson and the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle, Coun. and Mrs Desmond Rigby.
Many other civic officials and councillors were also present in the almost capacity congregation. The address was given by the Vicar of Barnoldswick, Canon John S. Long and Mr Watson also gave a short message.
Musical accompaniment was provided by the band of the Burnley Citadel Salvation Army under the conductorship of Mr Victor Gebbie. The band also played two musical items.
A solo was sung by Mrs Jean Heald and later Mrs Heald and her daughter Gillian sang a duet together.
