Some of the Harriers leave Read at the start of the run.
About 20 members of Clayton Harriers, several of them from the Burnley area, took part in a trial run on Saturday, 27th March 1971, in preparation for Saturday's Pendle Fell Race and next month's Three Peaks race. The runners set off from Read and Simonstone Constitutional Club, made their way to Whalley Golf Club, to the Nick of Pendle and along the ridge to the summit, and then returned to Read via Sabden Fold and Black Hill.
The Harriers have more than 40 active members, about half the number coming from the Burnley area.
