Mrs E. Greenwood gives her gift to the treasurer, Mr B. Curzon and Mr E. Warne (centre).
An "At Home" held at Lowerhouse Methodist Chapel started after gifts of money were handed over to the treasurer, Mr B. Curzon, in the schoolroom last Saturday, 27th March 1971. The occasion was the annual gift weekend, and Mr E. Warne acted as assistant treasurer for the event, a job he has been doing for more than 30 years. Gifts received were less than last year, but Mr Curzon hoped to receive a little more from various sources during the week to add to the weekend total of £261.
Chapel members Mr and Mrs G. Tomlinson were host and hostess for the Saturday social evening, at which other members sang, played games and entertained with sketches and dancing. At the two services held on Sunday, Mr Keith Folley, from Higham, led the morning service, and Mr P. Elson led the evening one. The chapel choir presented special music in the evening.
