A champagne celebration for the new SRNs as Hurrychand fills the glasses. Hurrychand, who hails from Port Louis, Mauritius, and Rickie Latcha, from Guyana, were among ten Burnley nursing students to pass their examinations last week.

Among the latest batch of Burnley nurses to qualify as State Registered Nurses are a man from Guyana and one from Mauritius. Hurrychang Bhautoo (24), from Port Louis, Mauritius, and Rickie Latcha (25) from Guyana, both hope to go back to their native countries eventually, and nurse there. For the time being, they will nurse in Burnley, along with the other eight nurses who qualified. The other nurses who qualified are Susan Elizabeth Emily Arkwright (Nelson), Patrick Moy Evans (Manchester), Frances Isobell Jones, Susan Pollard, Jacqueline Stanton and Maureen Taylor, all of Burnley, and Elspeth Nicholson Turner and Fiona Wright (Todmorden).
