Mr Howard, centre, receiving his watch-and congratulations- from Alderman J A Smith, chairman BCN Joint Transport Committee. On the left is Mr Mr G Parry, general manager. A man who started work with local public transport when he was 14, and still in short pants, as a junior clerk at Queensgate depot, was presented with a gold, inscribed wrist watch on Tuesday to mark 40 years’ service.
He is Mr Tom Howard, who still works at Queensgate, and is now chief returns clerk. He still has 11 years to go before he reaches the official retirement age, and intends to continue working with the local undertaking.
