People from various aspects of Burnley life attended the monthly civic lunch at the Town Hall, when 17 prominent townspeople were guests of the Mayor, Ald. E. J. Willis. Among those who attended the lunch were the Town Clerk, Mr C. V. Thornley; the chairman and general manager of Burnley Football Club, Messrs Bob Lord and Harry Potts; Mr Duncan Harrison president of Burnley Chamber of Trade, Mr Kenneth Wheatley, president of the Burnley and District Junior Chamber of Commerce; and Fr H. Rigby of St. Augustine's RC Church.
