Parkes, cuts out a centre by Casper as Coates runs in.
From a Match Report by Keith McNee:
Though they missed at least six reasonable chances Wolves still deserved a victory. The only goal came in the 66th minute from a superb header by Dougan after a corner on the left by Wagstaffe. For all their huff and puff, Burnley were ineffective in midfield where tough, no-nonsense Bailey usually dominated. The giant Parkes in the Wolves goal was not often troubled. He saw a header from Kindon go over after a Collins centre and did well to knock down a header from Nulty, who had sneaked in nicely on the blind side following a free-kick by Thomas. In the early part of the second-half Parkes began to see more of the action and it seemed that there was just a chance that Burnley were going to lift themselves above their general level of mediocrity. Kindon twice swept clear into positions which menaced the Wolves goal, but each time his runs, disappointingly, came to nothing.
The match summed up this sad and sorry season only too well. They are badly short of steel in that engine-room and their finishing is weak. One left feeling that Burnley had not been good enough again, but in fairness allowance must still be made for their tattered confidence. This was Burnley's 22nd defeat in 42 league games and although they went down fighting now they are out of the First Division after 24 years and 1,006 matches.
