View of the crashed timber lorry from the traffic lights. Two lorry drivers ahd lucky escapes on Tuesday in a collision in heavy rain at the junction of Manchester Road Summit traffic lights. The accident happened at mid-day when a Tufmix concrete mixer driven by 23 year-old Mr Jeffrey Bailey, of Padiham, was in collision with a fully laden timber lorry driven by Mr John Gillespie of Bolton, for Reliance Motors (Bolton) Ltd. Both drivers were taken to hospital but released after treatment for shock. The timber lorry deposited most of its load on the central island, holding up traffic for a short time.
