The new Pendle Forest transmitter in Fence, soon to be in operation. After a four-year campaign, Burnley’s MP, Dan Jones has brought the best news for local viewers since television came to the North. The new “booster” transmitter at Fence is to beam both black and white and colour BBC-2 programmes in December. And BBC and ITA “hope” to introduce local transmitters for both BBC-1 and ITV programmes, on the 625 line system, by early 1970.
Reception on Channel 2 from Holme Moss is at times marred by interference, especially in the summer, and the alternative reception from Winter Hill Cannel 12 is variable and subject to ghosting in some parts, due to the surrounding hills.
