A COLNE girl broke new ground on Friday night when she was presented with an award for her engineering work at the annual prize presentation of the Pendle Training Group.
For 19-year-old Gwyneth Clark, of Oxford Street, was not only the first girl to take part in one of the training group’s courses but she was also one of 26 prize-winners.
An apprentice at J. and R. Precision Engineers, Foulridge, Gwyneth does general precision aircraft work.
She received her prize from Nelson and Colne MP Mr John Lee, who spoke of the country’s dearth of qualified engineers.
