Marsden Singers Reunion

Members of the Marsden Singers, friends, patrons and former members enjoyed their own version of “A Grand Sing” on Saturday night when they celebrated the Choirs 51st reunion at the Silverman Hall Nelson.
Naturally enough the occasion was one in which to burst out into song which the choir did with renderings of “The Nuns Chorus”, “Last Sleep of the Virgin”, “Linden Lea”, “My Bonnie Lass She Smileth”.
Eighty people attended this highly enjoyable evening including most of the members of the 35 strong choir, for once in “civvies” rather than their uniform outfits. There were former members dating back to the days when the choir was known the Nelson Glee and Madrigal Society, patrons, husbands and friends. People came from all over Pendle and the surrounding area.
Entertainment also came from conjuror and magician Mr Raymond Smith, husband of one of the members. A vote of thanks on behalf of the guests was proposed by Mr Frank Shaw and MCs for the evening were Mr and Mrs J. Ingham.
