Sound equipment to the value of £100 was presented to the Edith Watson Maternity Unit at Burnley General Hospital by WRVS ladies who run the tea bar on Tuesday, 20th April 1971. The equipment will provide background music in the hospital's out-patient waiting room and the ante-natal clinic.
The money for the donation came from profits made in the tea bar, and since the maternity unit was completed the ladies have made donations totalling more than £350 from the tea bar profits. The equipment was handed over to Mr Clifford Hindle, chairman of Burnley Hospitals Management Committee, by Mrs Anne Leggate, leader of the tea bar team.
