The Sunday School children carrying the globe and country placards. A previously unpublished image.

Anglicans and Methodists walked side by side in a joint procession of witness at Fence on Saturday, 19th June 1971. Many members of St Anne's and Wheatley Lane Methodist churches took part in the event which followed the outstanding success of a similar joint effort last year. After the procession a joint service was held at St Anne's Church. Prayers were led by the vicar, the Rev. H. Hardman, who also gave the blessing. The minister of Wheatley Lane Methodist Church, the Rev. D. Bowker also took part. A highlight of the event was the crowning of the St Anne's rose queen Karen Whittaker by the retiring queen, Ruth Kidson.

A day of splendid co-operation between the two denominations also included an item by the Sunday schools on a missionary theme "The world for Christ." A globe of the world was carried at the head of the procession and children carried placards bearing names of the countries of the world.
