More than 100 children took part in Read Church of England School sports held on the cricket field on Wednesday afternoon, 23rd June 1971. In fine sunny weather the sports were attended by a good crowd of parents, who watched the children compete in egg and spoon, one-legged and wheelbarrow races. After the sports everyone returned to the school, where 100 prizes were presented by Canon P. A. Schofield. The sports were organised by the headmaster, Mr P. Booth and members of the staff.
