Lancashire Enterprise Fair was designed to give small new firms in Lancashire established in the last two years, a free marketing platform. The fair, co-sponsored by Lancashire County Council and National Westminster Bank, gave six businesses from the Burnley area a chance to show off their wares and services. Many of the businesses operate from people’s living rooms. The Enterprise Fair finishes today after three days promoting small Lancashire businesses who show that depression doesn’t necessarily mean the dole. County Coun. Mrs. Louise Ellman said in her opening remarks “79,500 people unemployed in Lancashire is unacceptable.” Seeing the bright ideas and the initiative of people from the Burnley area at the fair, it is clear to see that small businesses can and do exist very well indeed.
