Almost the whole of the congregation of St John's Church, Holme-in-Cliviger, took part in a procession on Sunday afternoon, 22nd August 1971. The procession, which was led by Burnley Salvation Army Band, started from Overtown and proceeded along Red Lees Road to the church. Sunday school children, church members and members of the Mothers' Union and Men's Society joined in the procession. This was followed by a service, which was conducted by the Rev. J. Hoban, from Glasson Dock, near Morecambe.
