From an article by Norman Powell:
Highcliffe Players celebrated their 25th anniversary and 100th production on Saturday, the 25th September 1971, with a most memorable performance of "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie." What a pleasure it is to go to a first night with a full house and an atmosphere of expectancy that makes attending the Municipal College Theatre something of an occasion. Brian Whitaker's brilliant direction of a difficult play was recognised at the final curtain by the applause of the audience.
Pat Dyson in the part of Jean Brodie, dominated the play and gave a brilliant performance. Christine Lomax gave an impeccable performance as Sandy, one of the clever Brodie girls and Barbara Tyldsley was well cast as the headmistress, Miss Mackay, and as always gave a sterling performance. Anne Eves made the comparatively small part of Mary McGregor a real gem. Though overshadowed to some extent by the ladies, Peter Ashworth gave a very good performance as Teddy Lloyd, the artist and womaniser, and Lindsay Cunliffe was excellent as Gordon Lowther. Other parts were played by Martin Cosgriff, Mabel Holt, Lynne Atkinson, Vivien Heys and Jacqueline Martin. The schoolgirls were played by Susan McKnight, Pat Mott, Pauline Butterworth, Susan Rigg, Maureen McGough, Patricia Duerden and Linda Hodgkinson.
